Just of top of my head...

Movies:

Ex Machina (slow sci-fi thriller)
The Social Network (Aaron Sorkin & David Fincher)
Burn after Reading (Coen Brothers)
The Imitation Game (Alan Turing Biopic)
Black Swan
Whiplash (like Black Swan about an obsessed artist)

Series:
Startup (not mentioned yet? It's about a cryptocurreny Startup. But like Social Network it is not really about the technology, it is more about the persons involved and the relationships between them if that makes any sense. Really liked it.

I thought 'The Death of Stalin' was hilarious, loved it.  None of my friends agree.

The Expanse is possibly the best sci-fi series I have ever seen.

Watched Zombieland about 7 times. It's a completely nerdy stupid cult movie.

The Man in the high castle is really good, though depressing.  Babylon Berlin is also quite good.

Yes, I love the “Expanse” and the “Man in the High castle”. Babylon Berlin is on my list to watch.

Season 1 of the Expanse really impressed me. It felt on par with the best sci-fi ever (early Battlestar Galactica reboot). But I think after season 1 the writing quality goes down a lot and many characters suddenly become quite different from what they were early on, and more 2D.

Eastbound and Down

Season 1 of this is one of the best comedies series I've seen. Up there with Freaks and Geeks.

The first two seasons of Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock are some of the best TV in the past decade.

Jeremy Brett's version is also incredible of course.

Get Shorty (the show not the movie)
Silicon Valley is excellent
Humans (UK show)
Viking is in my opinion the best show on television
Black Mirror
Planet Earth 2 and Blue Planet 2
First season of True Detective
House of Cards (UK version)
Yes, Minister (this is the greatest political comedy ever)

Movies:
Get Out - Pscyhological Thriller that is so Intelligent - the twist at the end is a neat surprise worth waiting for
Imitation Game - biography of Alan Turing - using math and computers to solve encryption in war time; role of homophobia in recent history

TV Series:
Breaking Bad - Plot of a generally good, very bright individual trying to help his family that crosses a fine line and evolves into another character; great exposure to societal price of illicit drugs and effects on young, old, men and women; good musical score; Worth watching entire series second time
True Detective - Season 1 - Takes about 10 episodes to solve the crime - so not all neatly tied up in 1 hour like a usual TV series. Season 2 is completely different story and not in the same Class. The redeeming feature of Season 2 is the music of Leonard Cohen.
Silicon Valley - Comedy/Drama of life as a start up company in Silicon Valley
