Cool.  Who do you think the democratic nominee is likely to be?

I don't know to be honest.  It is too early to tell.  The eventual nominee might turn out to be someone who hasn't even announced their candidacy yet.  Out of those who have announce already I think a number of them have a higher likely hood of receiving the nomination than Biden.   Warren, Booker,  or Harris maybe?  I just can't see it being Biden.

The Dems are sorely lacking a strong candidate. Bernie would be great because he has extreme support - if he moderated some of his proposed policies to appeal to a wider audience he would very good. His best move IMHO would be to shift his brand from being a revolutionary to a transitory force.

There weren't a lot of people who would have said Obama would be the nominee the first week in March 2007.  Same goes for Clinton the first week in March  1993.  There is no person who is clearly going to be the nominee, so I think whoever it turns out to be might not be at all obvious to us right now.

I think there is a very clear, and deliberate effort in the MSM to pump up Biden and Harris. It will be one of those two IMO.

I'm not so sure the media has that kind of power anymore.

They probably dont but you can still tell their biases.

Biden they know is likely the best shot at beating Trump. He's an establishment guy. He's a powerhouse fundraiser who is in with WS. He's got the approval of all the "cool" Democrats...But he's got issues and may not even run.

At the same time, they realize Harris is a lesser candidate but are drooling over the fact that in the contest of who is the mostest diverse, she is a shmorgishborg of ultimately meaningless, but lefty appeasing trophy "firsts". Woman, black, dope smoking Jamaican(apparently, and by her own admission), Indian, etc. She's adept at fundraising, not surprising for someone with a history of sleeping around, and quite possibly, enough of a socialist, without quite being confused for a full blown one, to get the moderate lefty(which happens to be Biden's sweet spot).

Will be fun to watch.

I think you missed Hillary's killing spree in Libya in your list there mate. Most people wait until they are the US president before becoming mass murderers.

Doesn't really stack up against Trump's (mostly childish) shortcomings now does it? ;)

I was responding to Gregmals statement:

Quote

Trump's father gave him an opportunity with the family business and he took it to a level that even marveled his father.

Koomala Harris used her orifices to ascertain political opportunity. No wonder she is in favor of legalizing sex work. She also has a horrid and crooked track record from her time as AG. Has been said to engage in pay for play as well as completely harboring an environment filled with sexual misconduct. She is the new face of identity politics, so much so that even her own parents are disgusted with her.

Pocahontas lied about her heritage(how stupid are people in the first place to believe that this woman, white as snow, was an Indian) to advance. She also exploited senior citizens and people in foreclosure to make her money flipping homes prior to becoming a politician.

My point is that all these people are disgraces. But it will be interesting to see how many Trump hating lefties jump headfirst onto the cheerleader wagon, pom pom's and all, to root for an equally disgusting and morally flawed individual. Wouldn't be the first time this sort of behavior is evident. Look at Dougie in the Russia Investigation thread. He hates corrupt Trump. He was Hillary's biggest fan.

Gregmal doesn't mention Hillary (for good reason she is likely not running).  I mentioned Hillary in passing because I know that's who everyone wants to blame.  That being said, if you can point me to evidence that Hillary murdered someone, I will vote for Trump in the next election even though I think he is the worst possible candidate.  The republicans investigated Hillary non-stop when they controlled congress, to my knowledge did not charge her or anyone working for her for anything illegal.  She didn't kill anyone in Libya, she made a stupid decision that got people killed.  This kind of fake news is dangerous, not only because of stuff like pizza gate but also because if you believe the people across the aisle are mass murders, its easy to rationalize that your side is the best and there is no need to compromise.  The Democrat elite has this same issue when they say Trump supporters are all racists, bigoted and uneducated (read: poor but that's not something PC democrats would say).

2nd point

We can disagree on how entrapanuerial Trump is, although I concede he probably could teach a roomful of Chief Marketing Officers a thing or two.  That being said, sleeping with the boss is not illegal.  Some people do it, it's not good quality, but my guess is a lot of politicians who are well known to do this kind of stuff.  I'm not voting for her, but how does compare to Trump not even keeping a pretense of being faithful and his "locker room" talk.  This does not compare.

Warren lied about her heritage.  I've contemplated not putting Asian on my college applications so that I would get a better shot at schools with quotas (which like Warren is technically true because I am 1/4 white and would be the truth by omission).  It's not a good thing to do, but we are comparing that to Trump's felonies and cheating and actively courting the Russian government to tip the election in his favor?  Come on.  I have not heard about Warren's house flipping thing, but I would bet that Donald and Fred (and Jared) have been a lot more exploitive when they built subsidized housing that Warren was when she was flipping a couple of houses.

Everyone has skeletons.  When you become a politician, these things come out.  But just because everyone has skeleton's doesn't mean that some people's skeletons aren't worse than others.

I think unless we get a recession before the next election, Trump wins regardless of the opponent.  Most presidents get reelected.  Already being the president gives a big advantage during a campaign.  You have the experience, you are already presidential and have credibility.  That's just a big advantage.  The last president not to get reelected was Bush Sr. and he had a recession that hurt him.

The media is just guessing like everyone else and they are betting on well known names. Just my guess, but I think will see more candidates with extreme viewpoints. It works well for OCA and Trump, so politicans take notice. With the social media now replacing traditional media, it is much easier to come out of nowhere.
