Transmission issues raise sensitive questions.
Recently, closer to home, regulators rendered a decision which put a break on a significant long-term contract for electricity transmission to Massachusetts.

At a certain point, after a reasonable process, useful projects should go ahead.

There is an energy transition/revolution coming but it won't happen overnight.
FWIW, I signed the petition.

Since when has the General Discussion forum here on CoBF become a tool for something like this about Canada?

Cardboard, you have the means as OP to move this topic to the Politics forum.

The Petition is only meant for Canadian citizens and and as such, it should not be placed in this board.
I own a pipeline stocks with interest in said pipeline, but that is besides the point. This should be moved to the politics board, IMO.

Signed!  The descent of Western political systems into ideological vs. rational/ strategic postures is definitely a threat to our continued security and prosperity.  This issue is but one example, among many.

FWIW. I have no issue with the post staying where it is, as the issue is one of both political and investment significance.  Indeed, I may not have seen the petition in the Politics section as I do not go there regularly; however, the relevance of the post to my investments is significant.

Energy East? That one is easy.

Cut equalization payments to Quebec to zero. This program is ridiculous. Quebec gets $13 billion/year because it does not have the same natural resources and related profits as Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Excuse me? What about massive hydro energy? Isn't this natural resources? Sure you have to invest to harvest it or same as oil but, it should count IMO.

And what about shale oil and gas in the Apalachian area and basically all the way down the St Lawrence River which they essentially blocked the exploitation for years?

What about all the gold, copper, iron?

Then these guys block the Western side of the country from shipping its oil while they are one of the largest beneficiary???
