Not quite true. As far as I know, legal immigrants are entitled to the full protection of the US gov't, can obtain a passport, can legally collect social security, medicare, etc., can legally vote, can walk around free of fear from the INS, etc etc etc.
Regardless, you missed my point.
My point is that it's more damaging to "the Republic" when the wealthy and powerful have a separate set of rules, rather than the poor and disenfranchised.
