"You can't. Liberals today are the Nazis of yesterday. "

Thanks for reposting Ostog and so evidently making my point.

That is exactly how the Nazis were behaving or condemning someone before proven guilty. Controlling media and now even trying to control such website.

Cardboard

I've noticed FB, TWTR, etc banning quite of bit of free speech lately under the same identity politics rhetoric. Nevertheless BLM, Antifa, etc, all still seem to have pages on those sites.

Its all good. I have heard some left leaners complain about censorship too. One streamer I know made a video about Trump in YouTube, and got his account banned. I have never seen the video, so I dont know what the ban was about.

I think the point of emphasis should be to have people, and more specifically a society that can hear things they don't like. Thicker skinned at least, and at best willing to discuss and debate. The problem is people being so sensitive they freak out the second they hear something they don't like. Which then turns into labeling and even worse, name calling. That's when things go off the rails.

But at the same time, at least these people, like those of us on these threads, at our worst, are transparent in our savagery. Not full of shit clowns like the people in Washington pretending these allegations aren't just a smear and delay tactic, to counter what the Republicans pulled with Merrick Garland.

I'm not falling for the "give examples" trap, so that then we can go down the rabbit hole of "you support x,y, and z, you're a racist/homophobe/sexist,etc"

It's selective. Reddit for example has seen an influx of russian bot / Trump propaganda which has gone ignored by management.

News of 5th accuser coming out.

At this rate, alleged child rapist Kavanaugh would have raped more women than Genghis khan.

As an independent who has voted for both R & D, I hope Trump would pick someone like Gorsuch. The R party cannot carry this stain for too long.

Stuff like this is how it starts

https://nypost.com/2018/09/26/twitter-to-crack-down-on-dehumanizing-speech/

Sounds like a good idea, until this just becomes the veil for subjectively censoring people. Let people say whatever they want to and let society deal with it. That's been the biggest culprit of all the pussification of America. Worrying about everybody's "feelings". Handing out trophies even to losers. Not wanting to offend some weirdo by saying "God" in the pledge of allegiance. Heck, the other day I was looking at account paperwork for a brokerage firm, and for sex it had 3 options, male/female/other! LOL WTF have we come to?

I guess they all just happened to look in their yearbook three days ago and have all these drunken memories that have escaped them for decades come rushing back. What are the odds?

My guess is there's 497 by tomorrow at 9 am.

Oh no.  I assure you I don't want to know more about your browsing history / habits.  Plenty of evidence here that we don't see the world the same way.

I was aware of some instances of bans, but the few stories I read had indicated the bans were quickly reversed (with apology), so I assumed it was due to poorly tuned algos and didn't look further.  The 3 cases in your linked article fit this pattern of banned + reversal + apology.  But it's definitely curious that there don't seem to be similar stories about Antifa crazies being banned (for instance), so I wonder how they're deciding what to pull. How much is direct human input, vs. the machine noting high correlations with truly questionable content.  Just spitballing here.  I haven't even attempted to look into this matter.

I wondered if some of what you were seeing was collateral damage from the "cleansing" of bot-driven / propaganda posts from fake accounts, which I generally support.   But the examples in the linked article certainly weren't of this ilk.
