Trump sacrifices his Christmas Holiday with his wife
« on: December 26, 2018, 02:13:50 PM »
I guess we won't see this being posted by LC, Doughishere and some of the others.

They have no problem publishing every negative news including the President not visiting a cemetery in France but, whenever something right is done we hear only silence.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/26/politics/donald-trump-iraq-visit/index.html

I just wish there would be more balanced opinions on this website for 2019 especially from die-hard Democrats supporters. Less hypocrisy but, I won't hold my breath.

Sure Cardboard, I'll acknowledge it. As I'm sure you have done the same to the immigrants dying in border centers. I'm sure they were part of your Christmas prayers, right?

Reminds me of a (socially unacceptable) Chris Rock joke. He exclaims while impersonating ghetto parents, "Well, I take care of my kids!"

Then jumps out of character and responds, "So what! What, you want a cookie!? You're supposed to take care of your kids!!!"

So congrats, the President visited troops risking their life during wartime, on his orders. I can only imagine the personal sacrifice he made descending the steps of air force one with those chronic bone spurs of his.

I don't really think tears needs to be shed for immigrants who chose to break the law and as a result ended up in detention centers.

In Stave One of A Christmas Carol (December 1843) charity collectors approach Scrooge:

"At this festive season of the year, Mr. Scrooge," said the gentleman, taking up a pen, "it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and Destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."

"Are there no prisons?" asked Scrooge.

"Plenty of prisons," said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.

"And the Union workhouses?" demanded Scrooge. "Are they still in operation?"

"They are. Still," returned the gentleman, "I wish I could say they were not."

"The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?" said Scrooge. [Stave 1: 50-51]

Later, the Spirit of Christmas Present mocks Scrooge's former insensitivity by hurling his own words back at him as he regards the appalling children of humanity, Ignorance and Want:

They were a boy and girl. Yellow, meagre, ragged, scowling, wolfish; but prostrate, too, in their humility. Where graceful youth should have filled their features out, and touched them with its freshest tints, a stale and shrivelled hand, like that of age, had pinched and twisted them, and pulled them into shreds. Where angels might have sat enthroned devils lurked, and glared out menacing. No change, no degradation, no perversion of humanity, in any grade, through all the mysteries of wonderful creation, has monsters half so horrible and dread.

Scrooge started back, appalled. Having them shown to him in this way, he tried to say they were fine children, but the words choked themselves, rather than be parties to a lie of such enormous magnitude.

“Spirit! are they yours?” Scrooge could say no more.

“They are Man's,” said the Spirit, looking down upon them. “And they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree; but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased. Deny it!” cried the Spirit, stretching out its hand towards the city. “Slander those who tell it ye! Admit it for your factious purposes, and make it worse! And bide the end!”

“Have they no refuge or resource?” cried Scrooge.

“Are there no prisons?” said the Spirit, turning on him for the last time with his own words. “Are there no workhouses?”

The bell struck twelve. [Stave 3: 108-109]

If you want to see humanism, look no further than DJT. The man who was seduced by an adult film star to cheat on his honorable Melania who he spent Christmas with like a humble servant. Now this President, only a brief 2 years into his term has the courage to make his first trip to soldiers in the battlefield. Bra-Vo

He could have gone to Mar-A-Lago as he has so often, but he STAYED in the White House. Such honor. Much sacrifice. He criticized Obama for golf, but he took the ultimate sacrifice by hitting up the golf courses much more than Barack 2 years in...

Remember, he likes soldiers who don't get captured like that guy McCain. He's not the hero we need, but the one we deserve.

He picks the best people, until they're no longer the best people and must be fired.

The buck doesn't stop at him, but at the "Best people" he appointed. (Success however emanates from him)

He stayed to force Congress to set aside $5B of U.S. taxpayer money to pay for that Wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for.

He has held back his tax returns from We the People to prevent us from committing the sin of Envy by beholding his great wealth.

Tired of #Winning?

I agree  it is  a great move by the President to visit the troops (finally) especially on  Xmas. It must be great feeling for those troops that can’t be home to have him there for visit.

+1!  My favorite is the Alistair Simm 1951 version.  "I haven't lost my senses, Bob...I've come to them!  From now on, I would like to help you and that family of yours."  Too many people today believe that if it isn't your child, it's not your problem.  You would think that we've come a long way from those prisons and workhouses back in 1843...far from it!  Cheers!

There is a difference between sympathizing with, and going out of your way for, people who are in an unfortunate situation but work hard and try to overcome it, and making excuses/having sympathy for people who put themselves in bad situations.

Meanwhile, like some here with the endless anti Trump drivel, here's the headline from the c***suckers at CNN. How petty.
