Title: The painful use of "we" on this forum and seekingalpha
Post by: blainehodder on May 09, 2019, 10:41:52 AM
"We" think the use of collective pronouns to describe a single persons thoughts on a topic to add some sort of air of superiority actually hurts "our" investment thesis.

Perhaps "they" are just out to get "us" and "our" genius ideas, and that is why "our" stock picks aren't going up.

We also hate this.  Some writeups are done by firms and have multiple authors though.  But usually it's just one author who is being obnoxious.

Whenever I see this I just assume the author is a member of a royal family.

All we know is that these members often have plenty of nephews and are generally inclined to construct oddly phrased and far-fetched posts.

Hope that the use of "we" is not a sign of multiple personality disorder.

Usually the author is at the same time also the founder, chief investment officer of blabla global capital that is managing his own lunch money...

I always picture 10 people standing around a computer in a conference room arguing about what to say and how to word it before hitting "Post".

I see it a lot. Most professional documentation is worked on by a team (or multiple teams) of people.

But yeah its super obnoxious when some dude writing from his couch does it.
