Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden under federal investigation for tax case
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/09/hunter-biden-under-federal-investigation-over-taxes.html

Heard so much disparaging comments about Trump' sons over last 4 years might as well bring to light "truths" regarding a real crook, a pro.

Cardboard, if people do illegal things they should be prosecuted. Not that complicated. We will find out over time if Hunter is guilty of anything.

It will be interesting who Trump pardons before he leaves office... do you think he will pardon his kids? If Trump does that then Biden will have his get out of jail card as well (regardless of what happens moving forward).

If Hunter Biden did anything illegal...my money is that he did...then he should be prosecuted.  And Joe Biden should stay the hell out of the way...including pardons.

But Cardboard, I'm not sure you read the whole article:

The disclosure of the investigation of Hunter Biden comes as Trumpís company, the Trump Organization, is under criminal investigation by the Manhattan district attorneyís office for how it accounted for hush money payments to women who said they had sex with Trump. The president has denied having sex with either woman, porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal.

The DAís office also might be investigating possible tax crimes, as well as bank and insurance fraud, court filings suggest.

Trump is currently fighting efforts by DA Cyrus Vance Jr. to obtain eight years worth of the presidentís tax returns and other financial records from his longtime accountants.

At the same time, the New York attorney generalís office is conducting a civil investigation into possible misstatement of the value of real estate owned by the Trump Organization. The presidentís son Eric Trump recently was questioned by investigators from the AGís office as part of that probe.

Trumpís daughter Ivanka Trump, who is a senior White House advisor, was deposed last week for a lawsuit filed by the Washington, D.C, attorney generalís office. That AG accuses the Trump Organization, the Trump Inaugural Committee and the Trump International Hotel in that city of ďblatantly and unlawfully abusing nonprofit funds to enrich the Trump familyĒ in connection with spending on Trumpís 2017 inauguration.

Ivanka Trump and her other adult brother Donald Trump Jr. narrowly avoided being criminally charged by Vanceís office in 2012 in connection with the marketing of the Trump SoHo hotel in New York, according to an investigation by The New Yorker, ProPublica and WNYC. Vanceís office had eyed whether prospective buyers were misled about the projectís success.

The outlets reported that Marc Kasowitz, a lawyer for Ivanka and Donald Jr., had donated $25,000 to Vanceís reelection campaign and directly appealed to him that the case should be dropped.

If Trump's kids did anything illegal, you better hope that Trump stays the hell out of the way as well...including no pardons!  Cheers!

Why wouldn't he pardon his kids? Why take a chance when you have these loser politicians all looking to advance their careers at his expense? Look at Swalwell! What a total spineless mouth breather! One of the loudest voices on Trump/Russia now turns out to have been banging a Chinese spy and when he gets caught he just gets hostile and says its Trumps fault! You've got all these "investigations" into Trump and his businesses that weren't there prior to his foray into politics...you guys are delusional if you dont think its improperly motivated. So knowing this, what right minded parent wouldn't cut this shit off at the knee caps to protect his family?

The most vocal are always the biggest hypocrites.

Look at Ilhan Omar...Her husbands political marketing firm got 600k in Covid relief and she paid him over 2m in fees this past year. If that isn't a shady dealing I don't know what is.

Only criminals need pardons. Why does an innocent person need a pardon? Anyways Federal pardons issued by the president apply only to federal law; they do not apply to civil, state, or local offenses. Pardons for state crimes are handled by governors or a state pardon board. So all the state cases will continue.

After college we enter the real world and in the real world, lawyers cost $600-$1500 an hour to defend you, even against meritless claims or corrupt/ambitious political witch-hunts.

And do you also apply that standard to Biden's family?

I would have no issue with Joe pardoning Hunter(or himself if he saw a threat). As a family man, I'd expect him to.

The New York Times received some of the Trump tax documents and they suggested that Ivanka was taking consulting fees for a project when she was already working on that very same project as a Trump Corporation employee.  The dollar amounts matched exactly to the ones reported by Ivanka in her White House financial disclosures..

Pardon or no pardon, the state investigation into potential financial crimes is not improper and should go on.  Either their names will be cleared, or they won't be.
