Before the master of hype cemented himself as the master of politics and changed the Republican party forever, he was a lot like every other flamboyant, self-aggrandizing hustler, who happened to be a billionaire. In 2015, he evolved into something that only Mr. Trump himself could have predicted, and he did so. Envisioning himself as president in an iconic Playboy interview in March 1990, while not his priority, was certainly on the table. Ironically enough, he predicted that it would be on the Democratic ticket.

If the democrats had a 1990's platform, he probably would be running as a democrat.  The democrats have abandoned rust-belt and flyover state blue collar workers in favor of coastal progressives in issues such as immigration, trade, and domestic economic policy.

President Donald Trump was secretly recorded by his then-lawyer Michael Cohen just two months before the 2016 presidential election talking about paying off a Playboy model who claimed to have had an affair with Trump, a new report said Friday.
The New York Times reported that the FBI seized that recording, which related to model Karen McDougal, during a raid on Cohen's office in New York City on April 9.
Trump's current lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, told the Times on Friday that while Trump had talked about making payments with Cohen on that recording, the payment to McDougal was never actually made.
