Majority of Americans want Trump removed immediately after U.S. Capitol violence - Reuters/Ipsos poll | Reuters
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-trump-poll/majority-of-americans-want-trump-removed-immediately-after-u-s-capitol-violence-reuters-ipsos-poll-idUSKBN29D2VGHere's a summary of the stats:
57% want Trump removed immediately
70% say they disapprove of his actions in the run-up to Wednesday's assault
30% said Trump should be removed using the 25th Amendment
14% said Congress should impeach
13% said Trump should resign
On the other hand, polling indicates there is still a good bit of support for Trump among Republicans. There is also the QAnon portion of Trump supporters. This Reuters/Ipsos data, if representative, shows a couple of things. The numbers are bad and the trend may be worse, because as more information comes out about what happened on Wednesday it's not going to be pretty, and there will be lots of photos and videos eventually. These numbers may get worse.
In the heat of battle, Republicans made a tactical error in not seeing how quickly the sands might be shifting and too few changed their votes and behavior. Also now they are in a real bind stuck between those who believe the disinformation and a rapidly growing majority of the country (including Republicans) who want nothing to do with Trump. It will be a difficult needle for the party to thread.
