Ted Cruz picked the wrong person to mock on science knowledge
« on: February 28, 2020, 01:10:34 PM »

Ted Cruz:
“As you are speaking as the oracle of science, tell us, what exactly is a Y chromosome?” Cruz responded on Twitter. “And at what age of gestation does science tell us that an unborn child feels physical pain?”

He may have picked the wrong opponent – Ocasio-Cortez, it transpires, holds an award for microbiology from MIT.

AOC:
Sen. Cruz, while I understand you judge people’s intelligence by the lowest income they’ve had, I hold awards from MIT Lincoln Lab &others for accomplishments in microbiology.

Secondly, I’m surprised you’re asking about chromosomes given that you don’t even believe in evolution.

Yikes - looks like Ted Cruz is the one getting murdered this time :P

Also funny that he is asking about chromosomes considering he has an extra one to spare  :o

Sure, why not? The kids who participate and win at science fairs even at my daughter's elementary school level are really smart.

Her response to that is, "Like the ‘world ending in 12 years' thing, you’d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it’s literal."

She was referring to this:

Yes, when called out on her nonsense she back tracks. She also said:

https://dailycaller.com/2018/11/23/ocasio-cortez-climate-change-people-die/

or this:

It sounds like nonsense if you take it in the literal meaning. And she explained what she meant. That should be the end of the story.

She is a loon. Trump is a loon. That's all.

AOC type socialists like for instance De Blasio have been busy dismantling the things that made New Yorks education system a great one. For example, Steven Weinberg and Stephen Glashow (both coming from poor Eastern European jewish backgrounds) have won nobel prizes in physics and both come from Bronx High School of Science. De Blasio is busy trying to destroy specialized schools like Bronx High School of Science where Russian Jews have now been replaced by poor Chinese immigrants. In fact the Left has done more than any group to destroy the US public education system in the name of equality.

You have the socialists busy destroying incredible schools and you have Trump supporters trying to shutdown the flow of immigrants from supposed shithole countries and thus getting rid of your future nobel prize winners.

And then you have two scientific morons arguing about Y chromosomes.

This isn't the way America becomes great again.

What's wrong with asian immigrant kids? They happen to make up the majority of Bronx science and Stuyvesant student body because they're damn smart.

The problem is de blasio trying to get rid of specialized high schools in general. Not the racial makeup of these schools changing. It is a terrible move - IMHO de blasio should be ashamed of himself.

I came from a specialized public school in the NYC area that was subsequently "de-specialized" towards the end of my tenure. The thought was, "let's throw some dumb kids in with the smart kids and maybe osmosis will help".

Well unsurprisingly, it totally failed. It became total chaos - kids went from learning about tectonic plates to learning how to fight (or avoid fighting) in hallways.

I'm all for equal opportunity, but the key word there is opportunity. Every kid in NYC has the opportunity to get into Bronx science, and there are programs for those who are on the threshold who come from poor backgrounds. But that is where it should end. Sorry but at some point it becomes counterproductive to everyone to force this type of sillyness.

Here's a rundown of de blasio's pathetic efforts:
