Can Pelosi just hold the articles of impeachment and let the voters decide on Senators before transmitting them? Is it fair to let a lame duck Senate make this choice?  ;)

If Pelosi holds onto the articles of impeachment for any period of time, it is going to backfire on her (DEMS) bigly.

How in the world does she think this is NOT going to be perceived negatively?  Does she think the rest of America is really as stupid as she thinks we are?

If she wants to wait a week or so, fine.  If she wants to wait 4-5 months, she's got another thing coming.

Impeachment was "super urgent". Now she's "taking her time"... I cant believe there isn't a single political strategist in the party who doesnt see how bad they are making themselves look.

the US constitution grants sole powers to impeach to house, and try to senate.  how that power is exercised in each body is up to the rules each body establishes, and the process each decides to follow.  so the house by hurrying up and then deciding to wait (sort of coitus interruptus) is showing the world that its process is SNAFU/FUBAR.

in my considered view of the constitution (though of course there is no precedent directly on point because the US has thankfully never had such incompetent house members running the impeachment before), the senate is empowered to begin the trial, have a seat for the house impeachment manager to sit in, let it sit empty, and conduct a rather quick and conclusive trial.  but I think senate thinks there is more political hay to be made to string the whole absurd house process out...giving the house more rope so to speak.
